3 main flavors in satellite TV dishes

Companies providing different levels of service from about four orbiting satellites use three main satellite TV dishes. They are quite unlike the old gone by TV dinners and need not be cooked in the oven. They provide more food for thought than anything else.

The type of service you want and the receiver you use decide the satellite TV dish that is needed by you. The most popular Direct TV dish, 18 inch round, works with a single LNB low noise blocker receptor that collects the signal from the parabolic dish with two outputs. Homes with two television sets or more generally use this dish to watch two programmes at the same time.

Two different receivers are connected with the cables from both outlets to record one programme while watching a second show granting your receiver is equipped with a digital video recorder.

The other satellite TV dishes is an 18 inch by 20 inch oblong with three LNB and four outputs or a 22 inch by 36 inch dish used for world direct services generally for Vietnamese Chinese and Asian programming.

Four satellites are stationed in geosynchronous orbit above the equator, which is why satellite dishes must be pointing towards the southern sky at different longitudes for different programming options. The satellite is used for the larger dish for world direct services.

The dual LNB dish looks only at the 101 degree longitude satellite while the three LNB dish will view one of the others at 110 or 119 degrees. The triple LNB units are required for high definition programming and some local programming capabilities.

To see more than one television from the same satellite dishes, a multi switch without any loss of signal strength should be used. The signal from the satellite is connected to the switch using RG 6nor RG 59 coax and addition cables can be run to the different television sets.

If the satellite TV dishes are far away from home the underground cables should be en-cashed in a weather proof conduct to prevent damage. PVC is often used for underground wire installation and should be sealed properly on either and to keep moisture from damaging your coax.
