The switching of America’s television format totally from analog to high definition television is momentous and takes place on February 17, 2009. The mood and temper of the people is sure to explode unless they have a satellite HDTV receiver or a HDTV converter box.

Why are they doing this?

They do it because it is possible for them and HDTV format is becoming increasingly popular format of choice among cable networks and even TV news broadcasts on regular network channels. Analog TV sets are not made recently and this is not likely to happen again. The entire industry prefers HDTV.

Any ten year old satellite TV and television should have some kind of satellite HDTV receiver. If for the first time your news service package could already have a satellite HDTV receiver. In US, any brand new television should be HDTV capable.

Things to Look out For

The plus point about satellite HDTV is the reduction of its cost since the last two decades. No longer do you need a big dish of the size of your house to get a good and decent picture. Based on the place of your residence, the dish can be as small as the palm of your hand. The USB satellite receiver is the one that gives you HDTV broadcasts. But this kind of satellite HDTV receiver cannot be used on your television. This is for computers.

The incredible new subscriber packages are only for the time being- say for a couple of months. Later they switch on to their regular price which you are expected to know. Be patient; take your own time before you sign up. You must be free to choose a different provider. After a few months you can switch back to the original provider.
